Whether for new products for innovative exhaust air purification, publications or family friendliness - Scheuch received awards in every area
SCHEUCH WINS THE CSR CORONA GOLD AWARD
Family and health are subjects close to Scheuch’s heart. The initiatives it has introduced over the years to improve health and work-life balance, such as holiday childcare, paternity leave, baskets of fruit and healthy breakfasts, led to the company being awarded its second certificate in recent months.
We were delighted to receive the CSR Corona gold award for our in-house measures on 7 March 2017. This prize honours commitment to social, sustainable or eco-friendly initiatives, and was awarded by the Upper Austrian Krone news magazine and the Upper Austria branch of the Federation of Austrian Industries.
This year, Scheuch received the coveted Workplace Health Promotion Seal of Approval for the third time. We have been certified with the “berufundfamilie” certificate since 2012.
We would also like to congratulate Kirchdorfer Zement, which gained second place in the CSR Corona category for the cement plant with the lowest emissions in the world. Our deconox plant technology had an important part to play in this.
The ineo gala on 8 November proved to be a great evening for Scheuch, which came in the top 3 for the “Large companies with more than 250 employees” category and achieved first place in the “Apprenticeships and disability” category. The prize was proudly received by Head of Human Resources Michaela Endl and apprentice trainer Manfred Kassik.
Every year, the WKO (Austrian economic chamber) in Upper Austria presents the ineo award to companies with exemplary training programmes. ineo stands for the key principles of “Innovation”, “Nachhaltigkeit”, “Engagement” and “Orientierung” (innovation, sustainability, commitment and orientation). The award is designed to help young applicants and their parents to choose a company with excellent training opportunities. On 8 November, Scheuch was delighted to receive two accolades – it was one of the top three companies in the “Large companies with more than 250 employees” category and clinched first place in the special category “Apprentices and disability”. Scheuch has an in-house apprentice workshop in which it trains young people of all abilities, including those with reading and writing difficulties or those with a physical disability.
Michaela Endl, Head of Human Resources, and Manfred Kassik, an apprentice trainer, accepted the awards: “We are very proud of the fact that our efforts in the field of apprentice training have been seen and recognised. We think it is particularly important to provide individual support to every young person who chooses to complete an apprenticeship with us.”
Scheuch GmbH has once again been awarded a certificate by the Austrian federal minister Dr Sophie Karmasin for ensuring a good family and work life balance.
Scheuch GmbH, which is headquartered in Aurolzmünster, has been certified for the second time as a family-friendly company – the only company from the Innviertel region of Upper Austria to be recognized in this way. The family-run company, which has approximately 1,000 employees worldwide, is one of the few companies in Upper Austria to have received this special accolade.
“There are only six companies in the industry that have received this berufundfamilie audit national certificate in the entire state – which makes us even more proud of the fact that we have received this accolade not once, but twice. It doesn’t just confirm that we are doing a good job – we see it more as an attestation of how much we value our staff. The management team is very keen to provide a solid foundation for a good working environment and a fulfilling private life for all employees,” said Wibke Scheuch, head of marketing at the Scheuch Group.
Scheuch awarded certificate for second time in a row
The presentation ceremony for the national berufundfamilie certification took place in the Odeon theatre in Vienna on 15 November 2016. Sophie Karmasin, the Austrian Families Minister, recognised 86 employers, universities, and health and care facilities from across Austria for their family-friendly policies. Scheuch GmbH has been audited since 2012 – and even before this, the company placed great emphasis on making work and family life compatible. It is part of the company’s culture to promote socially minded attitudes, sustainability, responsibility and fairness and to live by these principles. These values have been a key focus of the Scheuch family for over 50 years.
One person who is particularly pleased with this accolade is Martina Ornetsmüller, the person responsible for the audit at Scheuch: “This certificate shows that we are consciously addressing the subject in a structured way and at a high level, and that we are striving to maintain a collaborative relationship with our employees. We are proud of the fact that we are one of the few industrial companies that is committed to such high standards.”
Balancing work and family
The berufundfamilie audit is a defined process in which the participating companies agree to a three-year programme that aims to implement family-friendly measures. The goal is to develop and consolidate a family-conscious company culture. The resulting measures are combined with other projects such as promoting healthy initiatives at work and demonstrate Scheuch’s attractiveness as an employer.
Making work and family life compatible with each other is important both for employees and for the company. Qualified staff appreciate being able to have an active family life, and show their gratitude by being more motivated and committed at work. Martina Ornetsmüller says: “We think it’s really important to have motivated and happy employees – they are part of our company philosophy. This can be seen particularly during busy periods: our staff are always ready to step up and work together to get the job done as a team.”
Scheuch GmbH has been awarded the INEO seal of quality from the Upper Austria Chamber of Commerce (WKO). The seal marks the first occasion on which the WKO has honoured teaching that places a particular emphasis on commitment and high-quality training. “Our state-of-the-art training concept ensures that our apprentices receive solid specialist training with a particular emphasis on personal development. We also offer extensive additional training opportunities, which aim to provide apprentices with the best possible support and ensure they are perfectly equipped to tackle the tasks they will face in the future”, said Rudolf Sanladerer, Head of the Training Centre.

2012, CAREER’S BEST RECRUITERS
As part of Austria’s largest recruitment study, “Career’s Best Recruiters”, this year Scheuch GmbH achieved a distinguished third place in the “Industry” rankings. In the overall rankings of the top 500 companies in the country, we made it to the top one hundred at number 77.
The study is an annual analysis of the level of recruitment quality that companies demonstrate. It looks at aspects such as the companies’ recruitment presence (their homepages, for instance), HR marketing activities (such as careers fairs) and interaction with job applicants (e.g. feedback on speculative applications and correspondence in relation to applications). As an acknowledgement of its excellent performance in the study, Scheuch was awarded the silver seal of quality.
2009, WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY AWARD (AMS)
The Public Employment Service for Upper Austria (AMS OÖ) grants awards in recognition of companies who demonstrate a particular commitment to promoting women in technological fields. On the sixth occasion of these awards, Scheuch was this year honoured for the first time with the prize in the large business category.
